Local Government Resources

The resources and materials on this page are intended to provide local authorities with more information about the transition to Fire and Emergency New Zealand.

The Board’s priority for 1 July 2017 is to ensure this happens with minimal disruption to urban and rural fire services’ response capability. Full integration, of systems, tools, and process, will take place over the next three years.

The Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017 transfers responsibility for rural fires from territorial authorities (in their own right, or as members of enlarged rural fire district committees) to Fire and Emergency New Zealand, from 1 July 2017.
